The site below is of the California Veterinary Board. The page below gives information and how to file a complaint, including a down loadable printable page you can send them by mail.
It tells who should file and how to file.
Go get them. Get some of these crooks/incompetents out of business.

The sad thing about the vet board is that they protect their own and you'll be lucky if the vet gets a slap on the wrist.
ReplyDeleteDr Fahmey is a horrible vet. I've talked to a vet tech who use to work for him. He has forgotten to use oxygen when administering iso during basic spay/neuter surgeries. When the animal becomes brain dead he's said "well, it was only a rescue."
Once a woman brought her dog in for euthanasia. She was so upset she didn't want to be present during the procedure. She told Fahmey that the dog was a shelter rescue and asked that he not put the dog in any kennel, that kennels frighten her. She asked that Fahmey sedate her and euth her. The dog was 70 pounds. After the woman left (mistake on her part) Fahmey gave the dog half the necessary dosage for the dog and threw her in a kennel. The dog started the freak out and bang her head on the chain link. The dog was panting and crying. The vet tech, in tears, begged Fahmey to give it more sedation and to finish the job. Fahmey said "the woman's not here, she'll never know." He recorded the dog as a 35 pound one.
Fahmey kills FIV kitties and doesn't even do the more thorough test to confirm the cat has it. Even with both tests cats have been known to come up negative later on. FIV is not an illness that warrants euthanasia.
Apparently Fahmey alters his records to cover up for his botch ups. He also blames the clients if something goes wrong. He'll prescribe the wrong medicine and then tell the client it's their fault if it makes the animal ill.
I know of one person who has sued him and a few who have sent complaints up to the vet board.
Meanwhile, this man is still in practice and still on the LAAS voucher system. He use to work at a vet in Santa Monica who acknowledges he is a horrible man that shouldn't even touch a flea.
Thank you, Mr. Muzika. You've got a huge heart.
ReplyDeleteON OR ABOUT OCT.15, 2007 MY BOY FRIEND JOE NEZBETH NEEDED ME TO DRIVE HIM AND HIS INJURED DOG TO THE SCVS (STARK COUNTY VET SERVICES) UPON EXAMINATION THE CLINIC REFUSED ANY TYPE OF TREATMENT UNLESS A PAYMENT WAS MADE RIGHT THEN. THEY REFUSED TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH JOE FOR BILLING SO I AGREED TO WRITE A POST DATED CHECK FOR TWO INCREMENT PAYMENTS TO SETTLE THE AMOUNT TO BE OWED $756.00, ALLOWING JOE TIME TO COVER THE CHECKS WITH ME. WITHIN 24HRS. IT WAS DECIDED TO PUT THE DOG DOWN. SO A THIRD POST DATED CHECK FOR $106.00 TO COVER BURIAL HAD TO BE SUBMITTED. TWO WEEKS LATER IT BECAME APPARENT THAT JOE WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO COVER THE CHECKS AS AGREED DUE TO LACK OF WORK. I PUT A STOP PAYMENT ON ALL THREE CHECKS WITH MY BANK. CHECK NUMBERS 124, 125 AND 126, THEN CALLED THE CLIMIC TO EXPLAIN THAT I HAD TO PUT A STOP PAYMENT ON THE CHECKS AND TO REBILL JOE AS HE WOULD BE TURNING IT INTO HIS BANKRUPSTY. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED AND AGREED TO DO SO AND THANKED ME FOR CALLING. JOE COMPLETED HIS FILING OF BANKRUPSTY IN NOVEMBER 2007. IT WASN'T UNTIL MARCH 14TH WHEN I TRIED TO WRITE A CHECK THAT I FOUND SCVS HAD TURNED THE FIRST CHECK FOR THE AMOUNT OF $329.00 OVER TO A COLLECTION AGENCY NAMED CERTEGY. SO EVEN THOUGH THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF THE VET BILL WAS COVERED UNDER THE BANKRUPTSY, SCVS IS STILL TRYING TO MAKE ME PAY FOR $329.00 PLUS COLLECTION FEE OF $30.00 FOR A TOTAL OF $359.00.
ReplyDeleteIt is a little unclear as to what went wrong. You writing a check made YOU the guarantor of payment to the vet, not Joe. I think you need to ask Joe for the money, not blame the Vet for services rendored. If the payment had gone under Joe's Bankruptcy, then the Vet wouldn't get paid. Vet's always ask for payment on the day of service because once the urgent matter is resolved, people tend to not want to pay anymore. It is too bad about Joe's pet, but the moral is: Writing a check you don't intend to honor is illegal! You are lucky they didn't try to get the whole amount from you! You may want to think twice about being involved with someone who cannot honor their debts.
ReplyDeleteNot only did the vet charge me 88.00 to tell me that my puppy was teething which i couldnt afford but that is not their fault but i wrote them a check and they said they would HOLD it and before it went through a couple days later i went in and paid with cash, and they were supposed to shred my check but deposited causing it to bounce at my bank adding a 25.00 fee, then i had to wait 10 days for their bank statement to come through even though the next day it was clearily on mine, so now they have taken 88.00 from me twice since i have over draft available the 88.00 even though it bounced was still available to me, then 10 days later today they call me and tell me they are mailing me a check today or tomorrow. since its thursday ill be lucky to get it by mon. to make the situation worse, my check from work is directly depostied and what i owe the bank is going to come out of my check and the check from them wont be here yet, so they will have take 88.00 from me 3 times now, and since i dont make much money i am a full time college student this is UNEXCEPTABLE! plus look how close it is to christmas!!!!!! THEY NEED TO GET ORGANIZED OR GET OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!
