Winograd's Advice on Finding a Successor

I emailed Nathan that Boks had resigned and asked his advice on how the LA animal community should proceed. He responded as follows, with an advice we need to acknowledge:

You should ask for a citizens committee made up of the animal welfare groups to interview and recommend the next director. The committee should have veto power over who gets hired. A man/woman of the people by the people for the people (and the animals). But this position is too important to leave to the Mayor and his cronies.

If you agree we need to do something other than tear ourseleves apart trying to influence the Mayor to pick our choice, and you want to help me organize such a committee, or be on such a committee and lobby both the Mayor and Council that this is a way to go that probably would take the heat off the Mayor and the Council by making the GM a "peoples' choice, then leave a comment of support or advice or contact me privately at edwardmuzika@sbcglobal.net.

  1. They should include a couple of employees, a city personnel person, couple rescuers, couple members of the public. The person must be able to get along with rescuers and the employees and the community and city council and mayor. He must be fair with everyone, no favorites. He should concentrate on his goals and not pay attention or respond to ADL or ALF.

  2. Poster one - almost a perfect description of Guerdon Stuckey.

The problem seems to be if the person does not pay attention to ADL, they same crap will start all over again.

  3. It doesn't matter who gets named, the ADL will start their harassment soon enough and all of you will join in. I think that whoever the animal people want (since they've yet to be satisfied with any appointment), the mayor should hire the opposite.

That's where you have put yourself in the eyes of the general public.

  4. ADLLA always gives a grace period, and if the GM is not doing a good job, they protest. We need someone that even ADLLA will give props to, which they do occasionally if they know someone's intentions are right for the animals.

  5. The animal people have never had their say or choice. Never, never. They got choices forced down their throats.

NO MAYOR has ever allowed a real search for a successor like they have done for police chief.

Yeah, crooks don't get to appoint the new chief of police or, in your case, terrorists don't choose the Homeland Security Czar.

Stuckey was deceptive and a liar. He was good at it so no one knew. He'd have even thrown staff under the bus if it served him to do so.
