Already I have heard about three candidates throwing their hats in the ring. Two I will mention: Nancy Moriarty and Aaron Reyes. Nancy was an interim GM between Greenwalt and Stuckey, and I think she was set to retire this year, and Reyes is a Captain at an extremely high kill shelter.
We'll wait a week or two to see if Villaraigosa sets up a search committee, or whether he is going to treat this whole thing as a joke and as a matter of retribution against ADL and those who voted for Walter Moore four years ago.
Moriarty never was interim GM and as far as I know she is not interested in the GM position. She is set to retire soon. She was interim Director of Shelter Operations when Ed first come on board.
ReplyDeleteMORIARTY BETTER NOT BE INTERESTED, SHE WOULD BE THE WORST EVER. SHE DOES NOT LISTEN; STRICTLY ONE WAY COMMUNICATION. SHE ONLY TELLS YOU WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN.
ReplyDeleteNancy Moriarty has more knowledge of animal sheltering than Winograd will ever have!! Besides having ADHD, she is getting ready to retire and probably lacks the energy it would take to sustain the impossible task of General Manager.
ReplyDeleteThe new GM must be someone with a thicker skin than a pachyderm. They also must be a masochist because it is a thankless job in a city of neurotic activists and rescues.
Actually, it is a hard job for managers that can't do the job, like Greenwalt, Stuckey and Boks.
ReplyDeleteThe anaimal community mostly loved Knaap.
Remember, the animal community has not ever had a hand in choosing who would run the shelters.
If they had a part, they'd less likely complain as they'd have to give their choice some leeway.
Isn't it thankless of neurotic activists to demand at least a 90% save rate instead of the 50% we are getting? Ridiculous, aren't they?
