Nathan Winograd Now on Facebook Lauds Reno's 2010 Performance

Some good news out of Reno: In 2010, 1,170 more animals entered Washoe County NV shelters than the year before. Like many communities, they could have blamed irresponsible people or the economy for also killing more animals. But they didn't make excuses and they didn't kill more. Instead, they did their jobs. Washoe County's save rate for cats climbed from 89% to 91% and the dog save rate went from 90% to 91%.
