FOX NEWS: ENTIRE GULF COAST IS TOAST!

Incredible. Anchor on Fox News has been talking to experts all day.

First, the daily spill is far higher than BP or the Coastguard reported: 25,000 barrels a day. This could be twice as large or larger than the Exxon Valdez spill, and will affect the entire Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida.

Obama still to go ahead with drilling after increased safety precautions on future drilling. Can you believe this guy?

The last I heard, he was going to hold off on any drilling. Guess I didn't hear the latest, or got it wrong. Anyway, after this and the whaling thing as just the latest disappointments, I'm so over him.

Hold off on any new drilling until safety can be assured. However, the safety on this rig was assured by BP. It was the latest technology, but the safety devices just did not work. The spill, even now estimated at 5,000 barrels a day is 5 times larger than their estimates of the worst spill possible.

Even now, outside estimates are that 20,000-25,000 barrels a day are leaking out of the broken pipe at three locations.

In addition, I found out there are small, cumulative spills all the time from the many rigs already in the Gulf which are making the areas increasingly toxic.

The plan for the Deepwater Horizon well, filed with the federal Minerals Management Service, said repeatedly that it was "unlikely that an accidental surface or subsurface oil spill would occur from the proposed activities."

The company conceded a spill would impact beaches, wildlife refuges and wilderness areas, but argued that "due to the distance to shore (48 miles) and the response capabilities that would be implemented, no significant adverse impacts are expected."
